Grey Squirrel Pest Control Services in Reading & Henley-on-Thames

Grey Squirrels

Grey in colour with large bushy tails; Grey Squirrels are a non-native species which were released in the UK by landowners in the late 19th century. They are now very common and classed as a pest species.

Grey squirrels are most active during the day, feeding from trees and on the ground often raiding bird feeders in domestic gardens.

Squirrel Nests

Squirrels nest in dreys which are naturally high up in trees however, the warm and dry confines of loft spaces in people’s houses are often preferred.

Grey squirrels tend to breed in early Spring but if food is plentiful, they may have a second litter in the summer. Litter sizes tend to average around 5-6 offspring.

Gnawing

With large gnawing incisors Grey Squirrels can cause tremendous amounts of damage if left to their own devices. Moving insulation to build their drays, gnawing water pipes, electric cables and joists are just some of the most common examples of damage caused. More often than not, damage caused by squirrels can be very costly

What Our Clients Say

Mrs J, Reading

The pest controller explained very clearly what was needed to catch the squirrel and how to prevent re-infestation. He was successful, in part because of my vigilance, but catching the squirrel was as humane as possible. I thoroughly recommend the professionalism of this company.
